The rules for Touching Green — short, binding, and the same for everyone.

Touching Green has one single idea: go outside once a day, take a photo, get on with your life. Add a few friends, a gentle nudge when someone looks like sleeping through the day, and a league table that starts over from scratch every week.

There are no comments here, no chats, no reach to win. That is exactly what makes Touching Green a quiet place — and that is exactly how it should stay. To keep it that way, the following rules apply. If you use Touching Green, you stick to them.

What isn't allowed here

What other people can see is your username, your display name and your place in the league table. For all of that — and for how you behave towards other people — the following applies:

• No insulting or discriminatory names. Abuse, put-downs and digs at someone's origin, skin colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age have no place in a name — not abbreviated, not disguised, not in creative spelling either.
• No hate speech, no unconstitutional symbols or codes. No incitement to hatred or violence against people or groups. No insignia of unconstitutional organisations and none of the well-known number, letter or image codes that stand for them — neither in a name nor in a photo.
• No sexual content. No nudity, no pornographic or suggestive material, neither in photos nor in names. Touching Green is not the right place for it.
• Nothing that sexualises minors. This is where all leniency ends. Content like this leads to a permanent ban without warning and is reported to law enforcement.
• No harassment, no stalking. Don't pester, follow, intimidate or humiliate anyone. A nudge is a friendly push, not a tool for burying someone. Anyone who has blocked you wants to be left alone — don't look for a way around it.
• Don't pretend to be someone else. Don't pick a name that makes other people believe you are a particular other person. That expressly includes us: nobody may claim to be part of the Touching Green team. We only ever get in touch from the email address given in the Legal Notice, we never ask you for your password, and we don't give anything away through friend requests.
• No spam, no advertising. No promoting other people's offers, no bulk friend requests to strangers, no nudges every other minute.
• No cheating, no gaming the verification. The daily challenge only works if you really were outside. So: no photographing screens or printouts, no other people's photos, no editing designed to fool the check. Faking a streak mostly takes something away from you — but it takes something from everyone else in the league too.
• No bots, no automation. Touching Green is made for humans. No scripts, no automated access, no reverse-engineering our interfaces to collect points.

Zero tolerance

What happens if you break a rule

We respond in a way that fits the breach. In the vast majority of cases a note is enough and that's the end of it.

• A note. We write to you about what we object to and what needs to change.
• Name reset. If your username or display name breaks these rules, we reset it — next time you open the app you pick a new one.
• Features restricted. For example no more nudges, no more friend requests, or no taking part in the league.
• Account suspended. For a limited time — or permanently, in the case of serious and repeated breaches.

For serious breaches we skip the intermediate steps and suspend immediately.

You will receive any of these measures from us in writing by email, together with a statement of reasons: what exactly was objected to, which rule it breaks, how long the measure lasts, and whether automated means played a part in it. That is not a courtesy, it is your right under Article 17 of the Digital Services Act.

Think the decision is wrong? Then simply reply to that email and tell us why. We will look at the case again — by hand, by a human — and come back to you. The further routes open to you are set out on the Report content or a user page.

How to report something

If you notice something, let us know. There are two ways:

• In the app — via the report button. That's the quickest way.
• Through this website — on the Report content or a user page. That works without an account too, for example if you don't use Touching Green yourself.

We look at every report within 24 hours: we check the reported content, remove it if it breaches these guidelines, and suspend the person responsible. You'll hear back from us as soon as a decision has been made.

How to block someone

You don't have to wait until we've decided. In the app you can block any person at any time — no reason, no explanation needed. After that:

• You won't get any more friend requests from them.
• They can't send you any more nudges.
• Their name is no longer shown to you in the league table.

Blocking is not the same as reporting: it protects you straight away, but it tells us nothing. If you want us to look into it, report it as well.
